'Solitude' Philosopher Philip Koch defined it as "A stretch of experience disengaged from other people in perception, thought, emotion, and action" Solitude is an experience that can exist regardless of physical location, defined by the "absence" of other people, internally otherlessness, a spiritual/philosophical concept regarding the dissolution of self and a literary/existential term for extreme isolation. At forty-five, Professor Loredana Dove has built her life on control. Keeping her colleagues at arm's length and her students at a distance. At home, her marriage to an absent, quarrelsome wife is crumbling, leaving her to raise their five year old daughter in quiet isolation. She has convinced herself she needs nothing more until Romina Maple crashes into her classroom. Nineteen smart, and reckless, Romina is the youngest in her year. To her classmates she's the loud, infuriating party girl; to herself, she's struggling with mental health, taking care of her three year old brother and the only responsible adult in a house run by aging grandparents, her defiance masks hunger, her insolence disguises fear. Their lives should never touch. Yet hunger recognizes hunger. What begins as irritation morphs into fascination, into a closeness neither woman knows how to resist. Boundaries blur. Rules splinter. And both must face the truth: some desires do not starve quietly, and some silences can undo a lifetime of control. Our Shared Solitude is a story of two women who should have walked away yet found themselves consumed by the one thing they were never meant to want.

When Esmerelda Harlow steps into the musty halls of Winston High as the new history teacher, with a reputation for being a bitter and arrogant professor, whispers of her arrival ripple through the school. Students are wary, until the reckless student Cameron Monroe allows her interest to morph. Cameron, the school's untouchable rebel with a reputation for detention and carelessness, with a game of causing disturbances. To her, Esmerelda Harlow is just another target-a seemingly uptight woman with strict rules and an aura of authority begging to be challenged. But when Cameron tries her usual antics, she's met with something entirely unexpected: resistance. Esmerelda is not an easy mark. In fact, she's more than Cameron bargained for. Cool-headed and emotionless. Every sarcastic remark is met with calm but devastating wit. Every act of defiance earns a punishment so perfectly tailored, it leaves Cameron seething-and strangely fascinated. Esmerelda sees through Cameron's rebellious exterior to the restless mind beneath it. Cameron, for all her bravado, finds herself caught in Esmerelda's gravitational pull-her intelligence, her poise, and her charm. But Esmerelda isn't here to play games. She's here to teach Cameron a lesson she'll never forget, one that will leave them both questioning the boundaries of power, desire, and control. In the end, it's not just Cameron's life that Esmerelda will upend, -it's her own. In a town where reputations are everything, what happens when two unstoppable forces collide in one university?

A sudden vacancy at the school brought a new face into the classroom-calm, confident, and focused. Students whispered about her professionalism, unaware of the past she was trying to leave behind. Isla Carter had taken the role hoping for a fresh start, a chance to escape old regrets. Teaching science was her passion, but her history weighed heavily on her, and she wanted nothing more than a clean slate. Everything changed when she met Alexis. Troubled, rebellious, and fiercely independent, Alexis resisted guidance and refused to fit into the school's expectations. Tutoring her was supposed to be straightforward, but it quickly became a challenge that tested Isla in ways she hadn't expected. As they spent more time together, a slow-burning connection emerged. Small moments of trust and honesty revealed glimpses of vulnerability in both of them. Each found in the other a strange comfort, a sense of understanding they hadn't realized they needed. But their growing bond was complicated. With past regrets, unhealed wounds, and the boundaries between teacher and student, neither Isla nor Alexis knew where this connection would lead or if it could survive the weight of their separate histories.
