The young Winchester stood in the hotel room, he just had an argument with Dean who can't accept him after he has no soul, He is interrupted of his thoughts when the angel Castiel sweeps down to see how things were going, He sees Sam is upset and comforts him. Castiel tells him even though the things he's done aren't great, he's still perfect to him.

With Dean and Castiel in Purgatory, Sam is left alone on Earth. The sadness is crushing, but he tries to keep going. If your family dies, that doesn't mean you die, right? Not physically, at least. Sam tries to keep living, but a situation arises, and with the shape that he is in, he doesn't have much will to refuse it. With nobody to set him back on the right path if he goes off it, what will he do?

Before they got into any trouble, Sam always found himself saying yes. Everyone said to him "you shouldn't be friends with him. He's bad for you" but Sam didn't listen. Lucifer was like his drug and he was so goddamn addicting.
