The only thing that keeps him going is Alan, and his other friends Tino, and Aaron. Now starting his junior year at Shady Glade high school, he's battling self harm, bullies, and his eternal longing for Alan. Austin has gone mad with himself, so far from his love and dying for a little passion. Both are reeling from the pain. One night, though, Austin refuses to let it go. He won't spend one more night alone. He will change things; on his life, he'll renew the love that has gone missing.

Mute. That's what they would call him. Alan Ashby has been mute for 1 years not speaking to nobody because he had no one simply to speak to. After his parents nearly shunned him as soon as he came out of the closet. He didn't have anyone no family nor friends to talk with. He has absolutely nothing. That was until Austin Carlile came along. He was the star baseball player at the school who happened to be openly gay and no one minded really, sure there was the few people at the school who would call him a 'fag' but he didn't care because he was happy with who he was as a person. Then everything almost shifted. He ran into some boy who caught his attention. The 'mute' kid that no one talked to. He quickly gained interest in the little ginger and wanted to befriend him or maybe something more but first he needed to find out exactly why the ginger was mute in the first place.

It started with name calling. Fag, emo, gross, ugly, anorexic, boney. Then, he laid hands on me. On December 19th of 2011, Austin Carlile gave me a black eye. ~TRIGGERING~

Alan thinks he's going to be spending all summer on his own, until his older brother's friend, Austin, finds a way into his life. Together, they begin a series of secret trips at night, when neither can sleep.

Nothing can break apart a couple who are destined together... Right?
