The Deadbeat Saints is set in a dark, heightened world infused with late '90s counterculture - a place where VHS tapes hum with cursed footage, punk shows bleed into seances, and the supernatural hides in plain sight. At the center are two unlikely misfits: Noelle Delacroix, a disillusioned eighteen-year-old monster hunter with a chip on her shoulder, and Roman, her brooding, reanimated corpse of an adopted brother. Bound by blood, necromancy, and shared trauma, they attend the Hayworth Institute-an elite, crumbling university for witches, warlocks, and paranormal prodigies-where they juggle occult theory, combat magic, and crushing student debt. Their already-precarious existence unravels when they receive word that their Aunt Beatrice's breast cancer has returned. Devastated and unmoored, Noelle and Roman leave behind the shadowed halls of Hayworth and return to their hometown of Maine, only to discover that grief is just the beginning. Drowning in medical debt and facing the loss of their aunt's home, Noelle and Roman reluctantly take a job from one of Maine's most cutthroat monster-hunting firms. At first, the Delacroix siblings thought this gig promises fast cash; but the second they get thrust into a deadly trial, they quickly learn that failure means dying. As they navigate this violent new reality, their initial fascination with the dark arts spirals into chaos. Strange magic and darker forces begin to haunt them, testing their fragile bond. The Deadbeat Saints is a haunting story of two broken souls caught between the real and the unreal- a tale of horror, heartbreak, and the lies we tell ourselves to survive.
