Estrella Ibarra-Bàzan was the newest recruit to the FBI's Naturals program. Growing up with addicts for parents made her good at something most weren't good at: she could remember anything she heard and anything she saw. It was a skill she learned from a young age when her parents coached her on exactly what to tell Child Protective Services, what to say when her teachers asked questions, even how to hide things if the police got called on them again. Luckily for the FBI, it was valuable. Estrella could sketch out a crime scene and point out things some agents missed. She didn't need to see the tapes to remember an interview. Crimes were solved faster because of her.
Lia Zhang was the second Natural when the program started. Escaping a cult and living on the streets definitely wasn't the way for any child to live. And lucky for her, the FBI knew that, too. Being a human lie detector and a polygraph tester's worst nightmare was her gift. If you could call it that. It's what got her picked for the Naturals program, at the very least. Knowing when a suspect is lying and being able to seamlessly come up with anything on the spot was what she was best at. It's what made her valuable to the FBI- and to anyone who wanted to play an intense game of Truth or Dare.
The more the two get to know each other, the more a bond starts to build. But Estrella doesn't know if she could trust a liar, and getting Lia to let her walls down is something even the top agents wouldn't be able to do. Love can burn like a cigarette and leave you with nothing.
