Lucia Bellandi has always been certain of who she is.
At twenty, her life is comfortable, predictable, and carefully uncomplicated. She has her friends, her university classes, her part time job, and a future she has never had much reason to question.
Then she meets Professor Vivienne Marrow.
Cold, intimidating, impossibly composed, and far too observant, Vivienne is the kind of woman Lucia should have no reason to think about once she leaves the seminar room.
Except she does.
At first, Lucia tells herself it's admiration. Vivienne is intelligent, confident, and everything Lucia wishes she could be. The strange feeling in her chest must mean nothing more than nerves.
But the more often their paths cross, the harder it becomes to ignore the questions Lucia has spent her entire life avoiding.
Because sometimes discovering who you are means questioning everything you thought you already knew.
And sometimes the person who makes you question it is the one person you were never supposed to want.
