THIS STORY DOES NOT FOLLOW THE ORIGINAL PLOT OF THE SHOW. This story is mature because there are mentions of violence, drugs and alcohol. After JJ's tragic death, John B is left struggling to understand how to keep going. The grief is suffocating, and he finds himself lost in the weight of it, unsure of how to move forward. The story follows John B, Sarah, Kiara, and the rest of the Pogues as they navigate a world without their best friend. John B's pain is raw, and the grief ripples through each of them in different ways, especially Kiara, who is unable to cope with the loss at first. She dissociates, pulling away from everyone, while John B tries to stay strong for his unborn child, a future he's trying to hold onto

Where JJ Maybank needs a huge favor from Kiara Carrera. JJ Maybank is known around First Flight High School, to hook up with girls and move on faster than anyone can blink. Except for this time, he got attached to this girl, broke his heart, and left him in the dirt. Kiara Carrera is one of the most popular Kooks in First Flight High, is super hot, pulls practically any guy she could ever want, gets exceptional grades, and is extremely good at whatever she does. JJ and Kiara have an unknown history. Everyone knows they have a history, but no one knows what.

JJ is a Pogue who has spent every summer at True North summer camp since he was seven years old. He started as a camper and now works there as a counselor. Kiara is a Kook who is forced to spend the summer away from home after her parents catch her smoking weed with her boyfriend, Rafe. As punishment, they send her to True North to work as a camp counselor, keeping her away from Rafe and her friends for the entire summer. JJ and Kiara have crossed paths back home but have never been friends. They come from completely different sides of the island, and JJ sees Kiara as a Kook princess while Kiara knows him as the troublemaking Pogue who is always getting into trouble. Neither expects to see the other at camp, but they are assigned cabins that work together, forcing them to spend the summer around each other. What starts as constant bickering, teasing, and cabin prank wars slowly turns into an unexpected friendship. As they spend more time together, they begin seeing sides of each other they never knew existed. But Kiara has a boyfriend waiting for her back home, and as the summer goes on, she begins questioning whether her relationship with Rafe is what she really wants and whether the Pogue she couldn't stand might become the person she can't live without.
