On the brink of a life that seemed too dull to excite her, amidst the chaos of the insurgency that threatened not just her happiness, but the little she had as a world; Maryam Bukar Ibrahim seemed to battle more wars than her 16 years old and autistic brain could handle. It became too much to bear, too much grief for her heart to take and a commitment her innocent yet frail body could endure. As if that wasn't enough, destiny found a way of getting her married to a soldier, at the brink of her father's death and the last words he pronounced were of her becoming Mrs. Na'im Bolori. For Captain Na'im Bolori, marriage was the last thing he thought for his life. He was the prince of the Kingdom of Maiduguri and suffering from an unmentioned illness broke more of his engagements than he cared to count. Being a soldier was his lifetime dream, yet rescuing a dying father only to get him married to his weird and two colored eyes daughter was something he had never imagined. He took her home not because he wanted, not because he was ever going to accept the so called marriage, between, she was only 16 years old! But destiny decided to play with his heart and test how capable he was of controlling himself and protecting the ones he loved. As said, When A Soldier Loves...He Kills To Protect. . . . . . The man took her to a small office downstairs. It seemed he was the owner of the hotel, given how well he knew his way around. She sobbed quietly, her sister's betrayal hurting more than Halima's beating. Today, she had to find out that her sister had no heart. "Take this," the mysterious man passed her an ice pack. "Use it on the swelling." She took it from him. "Thanks." The man studied her. She looked so young. What was a young lady like her doing in a hotel while her mates were in school? The man wondered. Women of today have no shame at all. "What were you thinking?" he asked. "Excuse me?" she asked, cocking a brow. "What were you thinking when you followed that man to the hotel? Don't you have any shame?" "Stop it. Stop talking as if you know the whole truth. You don't even know half of the story, but you're already judging," she said. He cackled. "Oh, really? What I witnessed is enough for me. You sell your body for money. It's as simple as that." "Shut up!" "The truth hurts, right? Next time, you should think before repeating the same mistake." "Please shut up!! Please," she broke into tears. It hurts a lot. Now she's the prostitute. People will laugh at her if they come to watch the videos some people took. "Okay," he raised his hands up in surrender. "I want to go home," she stood up. "I can send my driver to drop you if you want." "No, thank you. Wouldn't want part two to repeat itself," she said sarcastically. "Thanks for the ice, anyway." A story about two sisters fighting for their rights. A secret they've sworn to keep from the world. One of these sisters has to take the blame for the other sister's wrongdoing, and there's no way this innocent sister can speak the truth. No one would believe her, except one man.

Surrayya doesn't do complications. Life is sweet when you keep things simple- bake, paint, watch F1, and avoid emotional entanglements. Feelings? Too messy. Love? Too risky. She'd rather stick to what she can control: her dreams, her business, and her ever-growing collection of car facts no one asks for. Hafiz likes life structured. Numbers make sense. Investments have predictable outcomes. He has always believed that with enough discipline, life can be controlled. But lately, he's starting to realize- some things aren't meant to follow a formula, proving that even the best-laid plans can crash and burn. Their paths weren't supposed to cross. And yet, somehow, they crashed into each other-in the most unexpected place. She's all spontaneity; he's all logic. She runs from feelings; he's learning to confront them. Neither of them is looking for love, but love? It might just be looking for them. Because sometimes, the best things in life happen when you're not paying attention.
