"I never ask," William replies quietly. "I take." Est turns his head. Meets his gaze. It's too dark in the car to tell who's going to kill who first. Or... "Try it," Est whispers. "And I'll break your jaw." "Your arms are too short, Est." "But my teeth are sharp." William smiles. For the first time that day without his usual cockiness. "I know," he says. "That's why you're still alive."
