Karina had a hold on Winter that neither of them fully understood. It was as if Winter was helplessly drawn to Karina's fire, again and again, even when she knew she shouldn't. Theirs was a toxic dance, one that left Winter breathless and Karina smug. Yet, Winter couldn't resist. She'd try to run, to convince herself it was over between them. But Karina always knew exactly how to pull her back in.
"You're mine, Winter," Karina would whisper, her voice dark with possession. And Winter would shiver, because she knew it was true. She was Karina's, through and through. Even if Karina didn't treat her right, Winter couldn't help being addicted. There was something about the way Karina loved her - hard, fierce, and utterly selfish - that Winter craved like a fix.
Maybe it was the way Karina made her feel like she was drowning, suffocating under the weight of her obsession. Or maybe it was just that Karina got her, understood the deepest, darkest parts of Winter's soul. Whatever it was, Winter was hooked. And Karina knew it.
