Tacoma Vesper is sixteen, tired, and can see the dead.
In Port Townsend, that makes him very busy.
Ghosts find him everywhere-behind the gym, on fogged-up streets, in old houses above the water. They want things: a message delivered, a truth uncovered, one last chance to be remembered. Tacoma has gotten good at helping them. Good at lying his way through strangers' front doors. Good at pretending it does not get to him.
His dad used to understand this life. Then he disappeared, leaving Tacoma with an ability he barely understands, a pair of older brothers who make everything harder, and a town that thinks he is just the weird kid who talks to himself.
The only person who really gets it is Damon: Tacoma's dead best friend, who has spent nine years refusing to move on.
