Cassidy Quinn is the sharp-witted, quick-thinking charge nurse newly transferred to Saint Mungo's Terminally Ill and Trauma Ward. Known for her sarcastic humor and fierce confidence, she never backs down from a battle of banter-especially with the attending physician, Sebastian, whose constant provocations both irritate and intrigue her. But Cassidy hides a deeper truth: she secretly transferred here seeking Sebastian's help for a terminal illness-the same one that claimed his sister nearly a decade ago. Too proud to admit her vulnerability, she lets her condition worsen in silence. As tensions rise and secrets threaten to unravel, hearts will change, lives will be saved, and scars-both physical and emotional-will finally come to light.

After a grueling first day in the ward, I crouched beside the boy's bed, desperate. Quietly, I reached out, grasping his hand, and closed my eyes, searching for the source of his pain. My ancient magic flickered beneath my skin. If I could master this, maybe one day I could tame me.
That's when Sebastian strolled in, his voice dripping with curiosity and condescension.
"What exactly are you doing, Quinn?"
Caught off guard, I turned around and blurted, "Praying." My voice wavered-half truth, half lie.
He smirked. "Religious now?"
"No," I shot back, meeting his gaze.
He raised an eyebrow. "Then what? Trying to work some miracle on your patient?"
"Something like that," I said, refusing to back down.
He shook his head, amusement dancing in his eyes. "Well, don't get any ideas about divine intervention. Just make sure you're ready for tomorrow."
And just like that, he walked out, his footsteps echoing in the quiet ward. A darkness pulled at my heart, knowing the day will come when I have to tell him why I'm really here.
