"Agent A3, are you ready for your mission?" my Joint Secretary, Major Veer Sinha, asked in a firm voice.
"Yes, sir."
I straightened my posture and saluted him without hesitation.
"Your mentor, Ms. Aditi Sehgal, will provide you with all the legal Pakistani documents and identities you'll need for this mission."
"Yes, sir."
Aditi saluted as well before Major Sinha turned around and walked out of the room, leaving behind a silence heavy enough to suffocate me.
Aditi placed a thick file in my hands. Passports. Identity cards. New names. A completely new life.
Then she looked at me, not like an officer looking at her junior, but like someone worried for a child standing at the edge of a battlefield.
"Shagun... are you really ready for this?" her voice softened. "You're only eighteen years old."
Her words pierced straight through my heart.
I clenched the file tightly, my fingers trembling slightly as years of buried pain rose inside me.
"I was only six years old when I lost my parents in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks," I whispered, my voice cracking with emotion. "One night... one moment... and my entire world was destroyed."
I swallowed hard, trying to control the storm inside me.
"I spent the next eleven years growing up in an orphanage. No parents. No family. No one."
Tears burned my eyes, but I refused to let them fall.
"They turned me into an orphan," I said, my voice slowly turning cold with hatred. "Since that day, I've had only one purpose in life - to destroy the people responsible for taking everything away from me."
I looked directly into Aditi's eyes.
"I don't care what happens to me anymore. I don't care if I survive this mission or not. All I want... is revenge."
The room fell silent.
And that day, Shagun Khanna died.
A new story began.
