Olivia Decatur swore she was done with her hometown and Texas summers in general. The heat. The small town gossip. The ghosts of what she left behind. But when her father's health begins to fail, she finds herself back at the family's lake house to help run the restaurant that's been in her family for generations. She tells herself it's temporary, just a few months to get things in order before returning to her carefully built life somewhere else.
What she doesn't expect is Jake Seresin to be home too. Once inseparable, they've barely spoken in years...not since the summer after high school when a night of blurred confessions and crossed lines changed everything. Now, with Jake grounded on medical leave from the Navy and living right next door with his old dog Fudge, there's nowhere for either of them to hide from the past or from each other.
Over the course of one long Texas summer, old rhythms return: coffee on the docks, small-town festivals, nights spent watching storms roll over the lake. Slowly, friendship rebuilds where silence once lived, and sparks reignite between two people who never really stopped caring. But as memories surface and emotions run high, Jake and Olivia are forced to decide what comes next.
