Behind the small town of Barlow lies acres of vibrant green forest, rushing rivers full of natural life, and animals all preparing for their survival of the autumnal hunting season where the men of Barlow gather together to hunt not only for food, but for sport. Although it is illegal in Barlow to hunt animals for sport, it is not, in any way, illegal to hunt one man, and only one man: Judas Sloan. Sloan Mansion is the only home built in Barlow forest, there are no cabins, there are no campsites. There is no indication that human life has tread the forest grounds. For that, there is good reason; Judas's home was cursed, and so was he. When Judas was only an infant, his father killed a grizzly bear who unfortunately was the sister of a well-known Barlow witch. It was an accident, but that did not stop the witch from enacting revenge on his father by cursing his son. Judas was to never be allowed to step foot out of Sloan Mansion for the rest of his life. After his father dies from years of alcoholism, Judas is left alone in the mansion, with no social contact, no one to speak to but the bare walls of the mansion. That is, until every Autumn where he is hunted and killed. Whoever manages to shoot Judas first, gets a large sum of money. It is a game. To them, Judas is no more human than the rabbits they slaughter. After all he deserves it, his father killed a witch. He was the son of a witch killer. Judas cannot die. Not until it is natural of old age. Trust him, he has tried many times, sometimes he does it for fun, sometimes it is out of boredom, but he always ends up waking up again. Death does not want him, and neither, apparently, does life. He finds no meaning, until the day the daughter of a famous Barlow hunter stumbles into Sloan's home, and Judas, terrified to be alone again, refuses to let her leave, even if that means becoming the villain the people of Barlow have always thought he was.

In Vegvisir, a land fractured into four realms-Boreas, Eurus, Notus, and Zephyrus-peace is nothing more than a brittle illusion. The scars of an ancient war have left humans, fae, and darker beings bound together by mistrust, forced into coexistence. When Ember encounters a prisoner, she sees more than just a dangerous stranger-she sees an escape. With her father intent on sealing her fate in a political marriage to the monstrous rulers of Eurus, Ember seizes her chance. She strikes a perilous bargain: freedom for the prisoner, if he takes her with him. But fleeing the South means more than rebellion. It means abandoning everything she has ever known for a journey into a world of secrets, betrayal, and forbidden magic. As Ember learns more about her mysterious companion-and the truths hidden within her own bloodline-she realizes she may hold the key to either healing Vegvisir...or shattering it completely. Caught between love, loyalty, and survival, Ember must decide whether she will become a pawn in a war she never chose, or rise as the spark that changes its course forever.

John Osborne has a promising career with the War Office and lacks for nothing. Except, possibly, a wife. Unfortunately, the woman he wants only has eyes for someone else. When a shared friend offers to help him win his love's heart--if only he will assist her on a case--he reluctantly agrees. He can put up with their grating presence if it affords him the chance of the happily ever after he so desperately craves. Lady Mary Kinson is happily counting down the days until she will officially be considered 'on the shelf'. Spinsterhood is looking rather appealing when getting married means giving up everything and trusting your husband to care for you. She'd rather use her dowry for a quiet life on her own. Until her younger sister does the unthinkable and Mary has to enlist the help of a friend to save her family from ruin.

Conveniently Scylla in her 'heartbroken' state, would buy herself another year of respit. Charybdis the sea hag has a plan. Desguise himself as a strapping young Mer. Infiltrate the yearly gathering and win the affections of the new matron to be. Such power should not be in the hands of a snot nosed brat anyway. No. He'd be a much better leader than she could ever be. All that was left is to work his charms...
