Disclaimer: Set in the world of Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. Original characters Ronan Melgren and Aries Riorson are the intellectual property of the author of this work. This is also my first fan fiction and I am learning as I go, so bear with me. They were never supposed to be anything but enemies. Ronan Melgren is the son of a man feared across every battleground-the Head General of the empire and the executioner of countless rebels, including Aries Riorson's father. Raised in the shadow of cruelty, Ronan has spent his life trying to outrun the blood that stains his name, building walls of silence and steel around the scars left by the man who made him. Aries Riorson doesn't forget. Doesn't forgive. A warrior in her own right, she's spent years rising through the ranks not just to survive-but to avenge. And when Ronan arrives at Basgiath War College, bearing the name of the man who destroyed her family, she makes one thing clear: she doesn't care who he is now. She knows what he comes from. They should hate each other. And they do. Until shared battles blur the lines between loyalty and longing. Until the walls between them begin to crack. Until what once felt like fury starts to burn into something far more dangerous. But love built on ashes is fragile-and trust is the rarest currency of all. With war looming and betrayal tightening like a noose, Ronan and Aries must decide what defines them: the ghosts of the past... or the fire they ignite together.

In her first year at Basgiath War College, Ivy Sorrengail went from a cadet raised to believe in justice, honor, and sacrifice for her country, to a rider prepared to commit treason to do what is right. Now that she knows the truth her country tried to bury she has to tread a careful line between a pawn to Navarre's crown and a queen to a country that would rather see her executed for her mothers crimes, than lead it. However, iron is forged from the hottest flames, and she would rather burn than let everyone she loves succumb to the true darkness that lurks in the shadows. *** This is my twist on Iron Flame by Rebecca Yaros. I do not own the story.

Rheanyra Silvarra has always known what it means to survive. Born to a disgraced noble house and branded a rebellion relic before she could walk, she's spent her life training in the shadows, carrying the ghosts of Aretia and the weight of a past no one dares speak of. At Basgiath War College, she's not just another first-year crossing the Parapet-she's a threat. And everyone knows it. Especially Xaden Riorson. They've known each other too long, fought side by side in silence, and now face each other across squad lines with carefully constructed masks. Their hatred is a language only they speak-a shield against the danger of letting anyone too close. Because walls are safer than attachments. Safer than hope. Thrown into Fourth Wing under Xaden's command, Nyra finds herself surrounded by enemies, allies she doesn't trust, and a squad that's as fractured as her heart. With every glance, Xaden dares her to fall back. With every order, he reminds her who holds power. But she didn't survive the slaughter of Aretia to be silenced. As dragons descend and the deadly crucible of Basgiath begins, Nyra must face not only the dangers of Threshing and the brutal hierarchy of the Riders Quadrant, but the truth she's buried for years. Because war is coming. Secrets are stirring. And for rebellion kids like Nyra and Xaden? Survival was only the beginning. XadenXoc

Xanthe Sorrengail has always known exactly where she belongs-on the back of a dragon. Unlike her twin, Violet, who was forced into the Riders Quadrant, Xanthe has spent her entire life preparing for Basgiath. She was born to be a rider. But there's one problem: she's a marked one. At ten years old, she met Xaden Riorson. At ten, she fell in love. And at eleven a half, she got disowned, and at fourteen she lost everything. When her mother discovered her and Xaden's relationship, she was disowned and cast out, forced to take refuge with the Riorson family. But when the rebellion fell, she was branded a traitor and forced back into her mother's cold, unforgiving grasp. Now, at twenty, she and Violet are being shoved into Basgiath, where enemies lurk around every corner and survival is never guaranteed. Xanthe is determined to prove she belongs, to claim her place among the riders-even if it means facing the boy who still holds her heart. Because love, like dragons, is never easily tamed. ☆☆☆ Posting schedule : randomly through the week beacause of school (usually weeknds) STARTED - 29.3.2025. Isla Riorson is many things. But when she throws away her status of heir apparent to the Dutchy of Aretia to follow in her grandfather's footsteps, her life begins to fray at the edges. Not only can she not trust the cadets around her, but she's not sure she can even trust herself anymore when she meets Colonel Sorrengail's eldest son. Arrogant and full of himself, Brennan Sorrengail is nothing less than a thorn in Isla's side. To prove herself to not only her family, but to herself, anything but perfection is unacceptable, and Brennan Sorrengail makes being perfect near impossible. - Prior to the events of Fourth Wing - Iron Flame This book will be mostly original, with original characters and *Some* familiar faces, but since we don't have a lot of information about Brennan's time in Basgiath I'm going off of the set ups explained in the book and taking creative liberties with the rest. This story *Will* include smut chapters, but I will include warnings before so if you would like to skip you may. These smut chapters will be few and far between as this is a slow burn rivals to friends to lovers kind of book.

Ari Sprawling can't ease the pit in her stomach as she packs her bag for Basgaith War College. In a few hours, she will either be dead, or a rider - neither fate a choice she would make on her own. As she enters the Rider's Quadrant, the last thing on her mind is jeopardizing generations of her family. But, with two other riders in her mind, keeping a secret is easier said than done. [Xaden Riorson x Violet Sorrengail x fem!oc] - first chapter (prologue) is written differently than the rest of the fic, so until I decide what I want to change abt it to make it better (LOL) please at least read through the start of the first real chapter. There's a pov shift and my writing is much more my style. LOL

Being marked is a curse. Being a Riorson? A death sentence. Verena Riorson-sister to Xaden Riorson, daughter of Fen Riorson, the kingdom's most hated traitor-wasn't raised, she was reforged. Life didn't just shove her down-it beat her bloody and taught her to crawl in silence. Mercy? That word died the day her father did. After the execution, she wasn't fostered with a kind family like the others. No, the kingdom handed her over to the Velmires-a family that worshipped loyalty and burned hatred into the bones of every Marked child they touched. They didn't just punish her for her bloodline. They broke her for it. Rebuilt her into a weapon so sharp, even the gods would flinch. She begged once. Covered in blood, trembling on her knees, she whispered for mercy. The Velmires taught her what a mistake that was. She never asked again. Now she wears her scars like armor. Each mark carved into her back is proof that she survived the kind of hell no one walked out of whole. And Xaden? Her beloved older brother? He never came. Never searched. Never cared. Not until it was too late. The little sister he remembered-the kind-hearted, bright-eyed girl who clung to his hand-is long dead. In her place stands something else. Something colder. Stronger. Unforgiving. She's done hiding the monster they created. Done pretending the fire inside her wasn't born to burn kingdoms down. Verena Riorson has come to remind them all why they should've killed her when they had the chance. And gods help the ones who ever thought they broke her-because now? She's the storm they'll never survive.
