Following the Avengers Civil War over the Sokovia Accords (among other things), HYDRA has come to power with Secretary Ross and Alexander Pierce at the top of the chain of command. As a result, the Avengers have been driven out of their compound, towers, and homes, and their families have been wiped clean off the face of the earth.
They're being hunted like wolves.
Natasha barely escapes the compound in one piece. Sharon Carter manages to break Sam, Clint, Wanda, and Scott out of the Raft just minutes before a HYDRA strike team is set to execute them. Tony narrowly avoids getting crushed to death in Stark Tower as it collapses.
As the team regroups, Tony makes the executive decision that all of the Avengers are going underground. They're going to Antarctica, where Howard's most secret project is kept. When they arrive, they're surprised to find an entire SHIELD facility under the frozen earth. It's been empty for years, having gone unused since it was constructed, but Tony is determined to modernize the relics within so that the Avengers stand a chance at surviving.
What will the world become without the Avengers? Can our heroes fix the damage after they finally return?
