Yumeko stepped forward, not enough to crowd, but enough that the scent in the air shifted-sweet, rich, alpha-pulled tension. "Jealous?"
Kira didn't flinch.
Didn't blink.
But something behind her eyes flickered.
"Delusional," she said, voice low and razor-clean.
"Mm." Yumeko tilted her head. "So no part of you imagined what that would feel like if it were you?"
There was silence.
Long. Thick. Sharpened by implication.
Even Suki was holding his breath now.
Kira exhaled once, through her nose, like she was resetting. Her gaze dropped briefly-to Yumeko's mouth, to the space between them, to something she couldn't name-and then snapped back up.
Her voice, when she spoke, was calm. Clinical.
"Tell your puppy to stay out of my path. And you-" her eyes narrowed, cool as polished jade "-should be careful where you aim your scent. You might attract something you can't handle."
Yumeko's smile widened, slow and satisfied. "I'm counting on it."
