What could bind a horse, two pasts, and three unclear futures together? A secret that threatens to be revealed. Alisha Parks was always on the run from a real-life nightmare and her heart was shut off to the world, but it wasn't always that way. She hoped, vainly, that this horrible fate would end with her, and would never inflict anyone else for her biggest fear was that it would continue on and destroy the lives of even more people, just like it destroyed her's. When she's forced to return to the only place she knew happiness, she promised herself she would do anything to keep them safe. Even if that meant giving up everything. Lucas Stalls always remembered the small girl who raised a horse with him, the girl he spent every day with and never had enough time with her and her bright smile. He could never forget how the same girl was broken and bloodied before she disappeared and no one knew what became of her. While the others gave up hope and accepted that she was gone, Lucas never did. He knew she would return, but he wasn't as prepared as he thought he was for how much she had changed.
