Interdimensional Pirates- known throughout the dimensions as gangs of trained thieves who travel through worlds to collect magical and valuable artifacts. But to Kota- an 18-year-old recovered criminal, who lives paycheck to paycheck, struggling to survive alone in the city, oblivious to the existence of the other dimensions and artifacts- they were the people who stole his locket, the last thing he had left of his recently deceased grandmother. She was the only person who had ever cared about him, so he was willing to get that locket back, even if it meant stealing it from his sickeningly rich half-brother's vault, becoming a wanted criminal and chasing down pirates to get it. ~ What to expect: ☠️ Slow start, picks up around chapter 5 ☠️ Male MC growth ☠️ Fantasy worlds and cultures ☠️ Mystery, adventure, action, fantasy ☠️ Mature themes of gore, torture, grief and death (trigger warning ⚠️) ☠️ Clean from mature romance themes ☠️ Detailed character descriptions, pages, and photos ☠️Morally grey characters and MC ☠️Original magical concepts, worlds, artifacts, and so on. ☠️Pirates, ships, fighting, portals, maps, treasure hunts, and so on ☠️Hand drawn digital maps ☠️World building glossaries Progress: 63k words Chapter 25 Disclaimer: ⚠️This is the first draft. To rescue the kidnapped princess, he went as far as sacrificing his one-of-a-kind magical companion. But at the end, she married the crown prince of the neighboring kingdom. Just because one was born as the king's son, he got the main lead position. The orphan stood at the second place, despite being a prodigy in swordsmanship. So, he was sent to the capital, Yuanhua, to trained at the Academy, with his maids, Nana and Susu. After an incident involving Bai Tong Xin and Susu, he ended up terrified and Susu severely punished. But her punishment awakened something hidden inside her. Something that would change her life and reveal dark secrets. ************** Author's note: The chapter titled "The corrupted lotus - a short story" is a dense version of chapter 1 to 9. It was written for The Shortys 2025 contest. For a smoother reading experience, I would suggest skipping it and starting at the chapter "1 - The clans". This chapter and the following have been edited to be shorter and more reader-friendly (and easier to comment!) Disclaimer: This story will contain depictions of violence and death. In colonial India, Holly Dumas lives in a world of privilege that feels more like a cage. She is the daughter of the Commissioner of Bombay, but she was also born with a secret. Sometimes the air moves when she cries. Sometimes light flickers when she prays. In the gardens where jasmine blooms, her magic stirs in ways she cannot control. When Dr. Robin Prakash returns from England to care for his grandmother, Holly finds someone who sees her clearly. He is sweet, understanding, and unwilling to bow to the colonial order. Their months together are a slow-blooming love, full of promise. Then, without warning, he leaves for England again. Holly receives no explanation and believes her magic is to blame. She shuts it away. Two months later, Mazi Al-Khenet arrives. He is a wealthy Egyptian trader doing business with her father. He is playful, light-hearted, where Robin was careful and guarded. Mazi and Holly's connection is immediate. What begins as curiosity becomes a secret affair that burns in the shadows of verandas and river pavilions. Mazi does not ask her to wait. He offers marriage and a life in Egypt, far from the rules of her family and the weight of her country. Robin returns with letters and an explanation. He wants to pick up where they left off. Around him, Holly's magic stirs again, and the jasmine garden wakes with her. She realizes it is not a curse but part of who she is. Now Holly is caught between two men and two futures. Robin offers stability and belonging in India. Mazi offers passion and freedom across the sea. Her magic demands clarity, and the choice she makes will define not only her future but who she decides to become.
