Bcqu is a closely knit research squad which specializes in exploring and documenting the life of dangerous planets. After all, it's easy to coordinate risky plans if you're all the same person. Planet GU-T64A isn't supposed to be one of those missions, but when one of him makes a critical mistake, Speaker is ripped from the rest of himself and thrown into the depths of space. Trapped 10,000 lightyears away from known civilization and floundering as a mere portion of his entire self, Speaker hardly knows how to function. The engineer who effectively murdered him is determined that they work together to steal a ship and find a way home, but the civilization they have landed in offers new and deep connections he never knew he could have. It's no replacement for the rest of himself, but the longer he stays here the more he begins to wonder if returning to his old life is a goal worth pursuing at all. After all, what could be more fulfilling than being understood by minds completely different than your own?

Adem, a quiet, observant high school senior, is growing up in a culturally conservative Muslim household in a mostly white, suburban American town. To his peers, he's the guy dating Lexie Brighton-sweet, popular, and "safe." But the relationship is performative. Lexie is more image than intimacy, and Adem is exhausted by pretending. At school, Adem plays along with Islamophobic jokes and nicknames like "Terrorist Tom Brady" to protect himself from deeper isolation. At home, he's caught between a reserved father who prefers silence, a protective mother who disapproves of his relationship, and two sharp sisters who see through him-especially Mariam, his whip-smart, eye-rolling younger sister. The story's emotional shift begins when Adem shares a quiet, unexpected kiss with Danny, a longtime friend and artist who's open about his sexuality and calm in ways Adem envies. The kiss doesn't answer all of Adem's questions-it just cracks open the internal tension he's worked hard to suppress. After this moment, Adem begins to unravel. He grows distant from Lexie. He lingers longer in front of the mirror, starts caring more about how he presents himself, and begins questioning everything-his faith, his relationships, his future. He doesn't come out, but he starts becoming. Danny doesn't push for clarity or commitment-he simply stays nearby, offering steady friendship. Adem tries to reconnect with faith, but struggles to pray. He's ashamed to talk about his feelings with his parents. He stops going to parties with Lexie. He isolates himself before slowly, tentatively, seeking truth. As graduation approaches, Adem watches his peers embrace nostalgia he doesn't share. Later, in the empty gym, Danny asks: "Wanna sneak out?" Adem says yes.

I used to move through things without really stopping. Days came and went, and I let them. It was easier that way. Nothing asked too much of me, and I didn't ask much back. If something slipped away, I told myself it was fine. Most things are. Somewhere along the way, though, I started noticing how quiet moments linger longer than they should. How certain thoughts don't disappear just because you ignore them. How even small things leave behind a shape when they're gone. I don't think I changed all at once. I'm still much the same. But, it was more like slowing down without meaning to. Letting my eyes rest on things for an extra second. Feeling something soften, just a little, before moving on. And I just wonder, when something small disappears from your days, do you feel it leave?

It was all suppose to be nothing more than just another day at the office for Ramona Pelham, aka The Hatchet and by office, that was speaking figuratively. Her job entailed very little corporate work outside writing up a contract to her hirers and specific 'terminations'. Then it's all gone within the blink of the eye when she finds herself waking up as the doting, good-doer of a nanny in a picture perfect sickeningly sweet, peaceful town from a bland, ludicrous murder mystery book. Ramona hasn't any idea how she got stuck in this uncreatively written nightmare, but she's adamant on getting out even if it means going off script. And possibly more bodies to keep her minor existence into a major one..
