At the end of the battle with Gaea, right after Octavian shoots himself at the Earth Mother, Nico realizes his mistake. He realizes that he just allowed Leo to be shot down. He realized he was about to get one of the seven killed. In a desperate attempt to save him and possibly not be hated, he manages to knock Leo off of his flight path and into the ocean. But at the last moment before he crashes as well he's pulled into the shadows. After that all he can remember is pain, he wakes up in a hospital in Gotham city with people crowding him, a billionaire trying to play hero and take care of him, and people constantly asking him questions. Questions that should be easy to answer, right? Thanatos is annoyed with Nico, who made Hades mad at a jarring family dinner. He decides that Nico should have someone just as angry with him. Out of spite he takes the life of a camper Will was desperately trying to save. Will thought that something felt familiar about the death, but brushed it off to PTSD, he goes to Nico for comfort, it's always difficult to lose a patient. Then he talks to Nico and realizes what that familiar feeling is. Will is mad at Nico, Nico needs to get out of camp. He shadow travels to anywhere away from all his problems, and ends up in probably the most dangerous city in the US, Gotham. Oops. Now with his powers depleted, he has to try and find a way to survive in this city that reeks of death. After a few violent encounter with the locals, he finally gets some money and rents an apartment, expecting to be there for a while. Will he survive in this city of crime? Who was the mysteriously masked figure that was supposed to be dead? What is he supposed to do now? Sorry guys, this is my first fan Fic.
