After beginning her relationship with Aang after the war ended, she thought her life would be bliss as they worked together to maintain peace in the world. But she was wrong. Over time, her input grew less important, her impact wasn't needed, and people brushed her to the side and labeled her the "Avatar's girl." Her legacy and impact of what part she played in the role was already being diminished. The worst part? Aang was completely fine with it. Caught in a mental turmoil, Katara agrees to be sent to the Fire Nation to help settle a small dispute that erupted between the Southern Water Tribe and the Fire Nation. There, she sees Zuko, now Fire Lord Zuko, whom she had only seen sporadically since their fight against Azula. At first, she believes he feels the same about her that the others do, but Katara quickly realizes that his life as Fire Lord has been far from easy, and he's been fighting his own solitary battles. The two reignite their old friendship, but as their friendship kindles, an unresolved spark that never faded from their past threatens to surface once more. This ship has single-handedly made me rise from the dead of my fanfic days to write a fanfic about these two. Jeez.
