Theo Reyes is just trying to finish his shift when Thorn Crawlers swarm one of Nexus City's industrial districts. One minute he's working on his latest Rift-resistant building designs, the next he's trapped on the fortieth floor with elevators offline and creatures flooding through the ventilation systems.
Then Sergeant Mira Kane crashes through his office windows in a shower of glass and kinetic energy, all business and barriers until her extraction mission goes sideways. Turns out the monsters aren't even their biggest problem-there's something in the air, courtesy of the invading creatures, and it's doing things to Mira's meta-human physiology that she can't just power through.
And that's when things get complicated.
Because Theo's not meta. He's just a civilian architect who happens to be really good at designing buildings that don't collapse when dimensional rifts try to tear them apart. But when protective instinct meets desperate need and exposed Rift Scars start amplifying everything? Suddenly his touch has Mira looking at him like he just became the most important person in her world.
In Nexus City, only 0.1% of humanity has powers. The System grants levels, stats, and a personal inner HUD that won't shut up. Defeats can lead to growth through... unconventional means. And the corruption? It runs way deeper than either of them realized.
Temperature play powers. Institutional betrayal. Survival in maintenance tunnels. And an awakening that nobody saw coming.
What to expect:
Visceral meta-human action. LitRPG mechanics (Stats, Levels, XP, skill trees, the works). Plot with spice, not just a string of gratuitous encounters. Consent-focused intimate content that serves character development. Corruption subplot because of course Parallax Guard has problems. Environmental survival and creature threats.
Content warning: Sexual content (18+), graphic violence, adult language. This is a consent-forward LitRPG romance with mature themes.
