Para Sonic y sus amigos, la vida era una rutina entre perder el tiempo, fastidiar los planes de Eggman o enfrentarse a cualquier villano de turno (porque, bueno, eso es lo que se espera en un show como este). Incluso aguantar los constantes ataques de Shadow, el erizo edgy autoproclamado "forma de vida definitiva", era parte del paquete diario. Todo era predecible... hasta que dejó de serlo. De repente, Shadow empezó a sonreír (¡sin destruir nada primero!), a ser amable (¿quién era este impostor?) y hasta a coquetear (¡¿Tal vez sticks no estaba tan paranoica con la existencia del control mental?!). Algo estaba muy, pero muy mal. Peor aún: Sonic empieza a sentirse extraño ante sus bromas y coqueteos... ¡¿Qué le estaba pasando a su rival?! TERMINADA

Shadow has always hated Sonic's guts. His stupid face, stupid smile, stupid voice, stupid everything! He's always been nothing but a pain. How could he be so carefree and relaxed all the time when it feels as if all of Mobius relies on him? Shadow struggles to find peace as he has constant nightmares and thoughts of his past. He lost his only purpose, Why was he even here? Why did he have to be created if all he's ever brought is pain and suffering to those he loves? Things start to change after his friends force him to stop fighting with Sonic for the good of the team. Shadow and Sonic are as different as can be...but is that really so bad?

Sonic spotted Shadow outside of the village one day. Curious, he decided to follow him to see what is up with the dark hedgehog. After finding out the reason why Shadow likes being alone in that one particular cave, he decided to stick around and company him. It makes Sonic realize that Shadow isn't really that evil and it also makes him grow closer to the dark hedgehog. SFW book.
