Inside everyone, there are two opposing forces whose interaction and perpetual motion generates life: Push and Pull. In most people, these two forces are at balance, creating harmony within and outside the body. But in some rare individuals this balance is not a stable one, tipping towards one force over the other. Those with a stronger Push are called Anima, while those with a stronger Pull are called Animus. Collectively, these individuals are known as the Imbalanced. And though their condition gives them great power, it also comes at a great cost to themselves and those around them. They have existed for millennia, but the world is changing and their very existence is being threatened. As this tug of war between Balanced and Imbalanced, Anima and Animus, grows, everyone is forced to pick a side. A collection of short stories inspired by stories I used to hear as a child whenever the power went out, now retold in whatever way I find interesting. An old foe from Keenan's past returns with a vengeance and a thirst that human blood can no longer satisfy. Now vampires are the prey. With Keenan's empire in peril and the immortal lives of the Vermilion's vampire staff at stake, Rivers has to pull some overtime to keep his daughter, his vampire, and his last shreds of humanity safe.
