Kalea stared up at me with those sparkly brown eyes that make me feel so weak in the knees. "Does it hurt?"
I chuckled and winced away in pain as her cool fingertips grazed over the bruising skin near my eye. "No, not a bit. It doesn't feel like some abnormally muscular seventeen year old socked me right in the face at all."
She pursed her lips together. "Why do you guys have to fight all the time?"
"Because we hate each other, obviously," I stated. "I can't believe you dated that guy."
"Cal," she whispered, biting her lip and staring down at her hands.
I let out a sigh and leaned against the wall. Kalea looked back up and tried ignoring the fact that our bodies and faces were so close together. I could feel her staring at my lips as I spoke.
"You can do better than him, just saying."
She let out a tiny laugh, like the ones where you just let a puff of air through your nostrils. "Like who?"
"Like me."
