My Entry for ONC 2025 (Open Novella Contest). Delia and Stella are clichéd opposites. Delia is the hard-working, introverted sister, and Stella is the outgoing, always ready-for-a-party sister. But when a handsome new neighbor turns Stella into a googly-eyed, stuttering mess, Delia unwittingly steps in to play matchmaker. Despite the good intentions, being cupid is hard, especially when the rules start to blur. Language and mature themes (16+) All characters and events in this story are fictitious and any resemblance to real persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Any similarities in plot to other works, movies, books or elsewhere is completely unintentional and coincidental. I work hard to ensure my stories are original from character creation to the storyline. I never publish unless I am 100% satisfied. No part of this story may reproduced in any form or by any means, without permission. Please respect my creative rights.

Amaryllis, who was drowning herself in a thankless drudgery of a job, was thrilled to learn that her dear old great auntie has bequeathed her everything. But it came with conditions: 1. Adopt her auntie's old grumpy cat, Mr. Heathcliff 2. Run her auntie's second-hand bookshop for a year and earn a profit 3. Live in her auntie's cottage and restore her once, beautiful garden. Except, the bookshop was a mess. There are no customers. The books are old and withered. Not to mention the house is falling apart! And Amaryllis has no experience running a bookshop. What's she going to do?

The house watches her, its halls stretching like the remnants of a dream she once knew but cannot name. He stands in the space between shadow and light, his eyes holding the weight of a thousand unspoken goodbyes. She steps closer, drawn by something deeper than memory, something fragile yet inevitable. Love is already there, quiet and waiting, but with every touch, every whispered breath, the curse tightens around them. Somewhere in the folds of time, in verses left behind by hands long gone, the truth waits-but to find it is to accept that love, once held, must also slip away. ······················································ 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭 2025 | Cover Credits: @𝒂𝒍𝒇𝒂𝒆𝒔𝒉𝒂 Primary Prompt #2: 𝑻𝒐 𝒃𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒅𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒍𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒉𝒍𝒊𝒔𝒕 Secondary Prompt #55: 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒊𝒇 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒆𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒊𝒓𝒓𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕'𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆. I kissed him. I slept next to him. I thought maybe, for once, this would go somewhere. Instead, he blocked me. Sage wasn't supposed to fall for Alex. He was a distraction. A hookup. A maybe-I'll-regret-this-but-who-cares kind of night. But somewhere between cheap beer and his stupid smile, she started to feel safe with him. Seen. Like maybe she wasn't too much. Then he disappeared. No explanation. No goodbye. Just silence where he used to be. Now Sage is trying to move forward-drinking too much, overthinking everything, and rewriting the story in her head just to make it hurt less. Meanwhile, Alex is unraveling. And every chapter takes us further back through the mess he made. Told in dual timelines-Sage moving forward, Alex spiraling in reverse- Tell Me How It Ends is a story about almosts, unspoken apologies, and the kind of love that leaves you wondering if you were ever enough TRIGGER WARNING: Drugs, depression, Borderline Personality Disorder POV, Bi-Polar Disorder POV, sex, and language
