Tokened snot nosed kids to resemble the reckless youth who run around not caring about the "snot" on their nose. Using snot as a metaphor for troubles that the characters may ignore or avoid. But it's time to face them.
In a suburban town in the early 2000s, a tightly knit group of eight high school friends navigates the unpredictable terrain of their junior year. Each carries their own burdens beneath carefully crafted facades: MYLAH wrestles with her parents' impending divorce while trying to keep her grades up; ARMANI conceals his struggles with identity and acceptance behind his charismatic humor; ZURI battles anxiety that makes every social event feel like an impossible hurdle and gets jealous of her twin sisters confidence; and KALEM hides aspirations for film school from a family determined he follow a more conventional path. Their sprawling friendship weaves through late-night gatherings at diners, secret beach trips, and shared playlists filled with early indie rock and pop-punk-each moment weighted by unspoken fears and hopes.
As tensions rise amid summer starting they go to a summer camp because their parents want them to achieve different things (more friends, good behavior, etc), shifting relationships, and personal insecurities, and shying away from what was normal, fractures begin to show. Friendships are tested by jealousy when new people enter their circle and old secrets emerge and new ones are made. Compassion often gives way to misunderstanding as they grapple privately with feelings of loneliness despite being surrounded by one another. But even in angst-filled moments-arguments echoing down hallways or silences heavier than words-they find solace within these connections that refuse to break completely. By the end of summer, each member confronts pivotal choices about who they want to be beyond high school while realizing that growing apart doesn't necessarily mean leaving behind everything they've lived through together.
