This is the next book after Anna Salvatore and it explains what Anna has been doing through the years. If you haven't read Anna Salvatore then I suggest you do, but you don't have to, it still makes sense.

Elena helps Elijah cope with the loss of his family. Elena and Elijah fall in love and move into a house together, and eventually getting married. While in perfect happiness, Elijah is confronted with the possibility of his family returning from the other side to take revenge on him. Will his new life with Elena be destroyed? (This doesn't follow the original story line.)
