And I'm following him. We dodge through the trees, and every few seconds, I swear I hear another footstep behind us. Too close. Too fast. We're not alone out here. Not yet. "We're sitting ducks like this," Harry mutters. His grip tightens on my wrist like I'm some idiot who might wander off and get herself killed. I yank myself free. "Don't fucking touch me." He barely reacts. Infuriating. Instead, he slows just enough to turn his head and give me a look. That unreadable, smugly amused yet completely detached look that makes me want to hit him again. "Relax, sweetheart," he says smoothly. "I just saved your life." My blood boils. "You came here to kill me." He shrugs. "Did I? You're still breathing, dear." I want to scream. - Vienna Pierce was supposed to be a quick kill. Hidden away in witness protection, she was marked for death. Harry Styles, a hitman desperate for his freedom, was sent to eliminate her. No mess. No witnesses. Simple. When the truth about her past is revealed, Harry realizes he's been lied to-and that the real danger isn't Vienna, but the people hunting them both. Forced to go on the run together, they become fugitives in a game where trust is deadly their situation stems from something much darker than either of them. As tension ignites and enemies close in, Harry and Vienna must decide: will they survive each other, or will they become the very thing they swore to escape? FILL. THE. Love. War. Lies. Nothing stays buried. Emersyn escaped once. But freedom comes with scars, and the past has a way of bleeding through the cracks. As secrets unravel and loyalties fracture, she's forced to decide who she can trust in a world built on betrayal. And Harry Styles, the only person who felt like safety, might be the one who costs her everything. When it comes down to him or her, survival or sacrifice, she knows one thing: She's not making the wrong choice this time. * "Then help me understand." The room tilts. My breath is ragged, his face too close, that quiet demand pulling the ground out from under me. Neither of us moves. There's an inch between us that feels like a cliff edge, almost like one wrong step will send us both over. "I hate you," I whisper, the words tasting like blood and truth. His jaw tightens, and his eyes drag over my face like he's memorizing every line, every crack I swore I'd never let him see. The silence stretches thin; my pulse is hammering so loud it drowns out the world. "Good," he mutters finally, voice rough. **** Started: 1/14/2025 Ended: TBD **** (Cover credit @antiheroics16)
