This story is set post-Mockingjay, following Panem's rebellion. It chronicles Gale Hawthorne's struggles with the blame placed upon him for the death of Primrose Everdeen. This one-shot was written with the intent of opening people's eyes. It is this author's personal opinion that Gale was cast off unfairly and in a way he did not deserve. Hopefully, this take on Gale will help diminish unfounded hate and generate more sympathy and understanding for his character. All characters and names copyright of Suzanne Collins.

"She survived because the fire inside her burned brighter than the fire around her." She was an ungrateful snob the Capitol showered with love, admired her, followed her as they followed President Snow. For the districts, she was another Capitol sweetheart and the heiress to the President of Panem. But, for Cassandra Snow, she was a women no one could ever understand. She was a Snow helping the fire of the Rebellion melt away the blizzard her grandfather had started. She was Coriolanus Snow's only successor, to go against all the odds, to create a new Panem with the fire of the Mockingjay. She's Cassandra Snow, a women everyone failed to understand.

Gale lives a lonely life in District 2. Even with his fancy job and the many girls he attracts, Katniss is the only girl on his mind. He makes he way back to District 12 but even so, he does what he can to stay away from Katniss, the key of his heartbreak. But he can't hide for long.

Gale is out in district 8 at his new job cleaning up the waste left from the rebellion. He soon finds love with another worker. The question is will they stick together...?

Two choices: Live and die in District 12 like her parents or Run and hide for the rest of her life, leaving everything she has known behind including her only friends. Carina chose a third option and became someone else, abandoning who she was and promising to herself to never return to 12. She took her brother's hand and ran as far as she could, leaving 12 behind.

Two years have past since the war and Katniss' life is still in ruins. With the realisation of having fake feelings towards Peeta she's missed Gale more than ever. After Gale makes a surprise return to District 12 he's whisked away, by none other than the Capitol. Is there enough time to save him, as well as her friends?
