Endless serenades of how worthless I'd been and how destructive I was; I was a disappointment to literally everyone and I hated it. My breathing became shallow as I cried for the second time that day, finally feeling content being immersed in guilt. A shudder wracked through my body, tears escaping and Paul pulled me closer as he woke silently. Mumbling soft nothings against my skin and kissing it to slow my breathing, he tried to lull me to sleep, "It's okay, you're okay." Refusing to speak -my voice failing me- his arm came up to wrap around my shoulder and I held him there, placing a small kiss to his tattooed skin in a broken sign of gratitude, I must've run out of tears. And I felt at ease.

[BxB] Waking up next to someone after having a little too much to drink was no new, riveting story in this day and age. Waking up next to another boy, when you were also a boy, was a little more interesting, but still nothing to write home about. But waking up in Nico Beckett's sheets? To Wesley, it was a nightmare come to life. ~~~ Wesley Dillon's life was uneventful, and frankly, he liked it that way. He didn't get into trouble, he kept his grades up, he played it safe. He never did anything to rock the boat he was floating in, the calm waters of his lake left undisturbed. Now starting his last year in high school, Wes was content to continue living his life as he always has - but sometimes, and only sometimes, he caught himself wishing that something could make ripples in his tiny world. What he wasn't ready for were the waves that were Nico Beckett - a troublemaker, womaniser, and an incredibly popular boy at his school. He was everything Wes was not. I began this piece of writing as a class assignment, but fell in love with the idea of becoming involved in Fitzgerald's complicated plot of The Great Gatsby, a story based in the debonaire 1930's. If you have not read The Great Gatsby, this is all you need to know to understand my short story: ♦︎ In New York, there were two islands called the East Egg and West Egg. Although both were wealthy, the West Egg people had earned their money through work, while the East Egg consisted mostly of people who inherited their riches. ♦︎ Mr. Jay Gatsby is a man who built up his money. He has fallen in love with the beautiful, yet already married, Daisy Buchanan. Sadly, he was never a man to understand true character. My character has fallen in love with Mr. Gatsby, but what she doesn't know is that love can be deadly.
