50 years after the last of the Sonic cast has passed away, Shadow is left alone. He's been given a mission back to Eggman's old laboratories, only to find something that would bring a series of memories back to him.

In an alternate universe, Sonic is the blue hero with supersonic speed and icy powers. He doesn't just run fast: he freezes, creates ice bridges as he passes, and fights to protect his kingdom and keep the elements in balance. Shadow is a spirit who lives in the Enchanted Forest where Sonic has recently settled. He is a solitary immortal being, shrouded in mystery, who watches Sonic from afar. Shadow is attracted to that mix of power and vulnerability, because in Sonic he sees a part of himself: the weight of responsibility, the doubt of being more of a weapon than a hero. Their meeting is inevitable. Both are loners, both carry on their shoulders the weight of a power that isolates them from the world. Can two such opposite forces - Sonic's fast light and Shadow's cold shadow - find a balance? And when the battle is over, will they choose love over loneliness? . . . . . . .
