This saucy story was written for a holiday exchange. I derived a lot of inspiration for the linked fanvid, it’s the beginning and the end. Its melody carries through the narration. Hope you enjoy and have a laugh! The anachronism was requested as well as the tool that appears in the story.

{a Being Human fan-fiction, but can be read separately.} "She didn't look frightened or surprised: just disappointed. She told me not to blame myself, she said it was stupid of her to think she could change me. I agreed... and then I laughed." We all know how Sylvie's story ends. But how did it begin? This is the tragic tale of Sylvie and Hal, and their struggles to keep him human.

As Edwyrd Eska approaches his two-hundredth year as Guardian of the Core, he must find an Apprentice to train under him. His title and role compels him to safeguard and govern his universe, Gladonus, as each Guardian before him has done and those after him shall continue to do until relieved of such duties by will of the Ancients. Prince Hydro Paen, Eirek Mourse, and Zain Berrese—amongst other contestants—receive invitations to compete in a quest of Trials intended to determine who becomes Eska’s Apprentice. An old adage goes: “the toughest trials test you truest” – and these events challenge their fortitude through tenuous partnerships, intellectual rivalries, and battles of weapons’ mastery. Along the way, each contestant must attempt to overcome personal demons that haunt them. In this tale of ideal dreams and lucid aspirations, these competitors find theirs threatened by deceit, betrayal, sabotage—and even flesh—as all become vital to success…

In medieval France, Marie de la Croix is high in society, but has not managed to produce an heir to her brutal husband. When the local carpenter is brought in to make some new furniture, Marie realises that there is another life available to her than that of just being the Sheriff's wife. *** This is a short story and it will not be continued in present form, as it was basically just a first draft of a (surprisingly long) chapter of a NaNovel about something completely different. (I won't put that 2007 NaNovel on here because it's 52k long and turned out to be a collection of scenes without anything resembling a plot.) The chapter was meant to be a sort of flashback to a previous life lived by the four main characters, but those references have been removed to make it stand-alone. If I continue with the story of the sheriff's wife, I'd start from scratch and fill it out a lot more, as this is really just a synopsis. :)
