Luego de que la aventura de los Mugiwaras llegará a su fin, luffy logró cumplir su sueño de ser el Rey de los piratas al igual que todos sus amigos de su tripulación. Luffy al final se casó con Nami e hicieron una hermosa familia al igual que toda su tropa, un día había organizado una fiesta para celebrar los 5 años de su hija Monkey D Aurora y habían invitado a todos sus antiguos amigos y nakamas que hicieron a lo largo de su vida, nada podía salir mal. Pero lamentablemente ellos se equivocaron ya que alguien quién supuestamente había muerto, había regresado a la vida por venganza Un ex almirante de la marina llamado Akainu quien fue el asesino del hermano del pelinegro logró sobrevivir luego de la caída del gobierno mundial y juro venganza en contra del Mugiwara y la única forma de hacerlo era arrebatarle todo lo qué él amaba. Akainu invadió la isla de luffy acompañado de un gran ejército de marines entre otros y esto ocasionó el final de todo, Akainu logró arrebatarle la vida a toda la tripulación de los sombreros de paja. Aunque lastimosamente luffy vió morir a su esposa ante sus ojos y en un arranque de ira asesino al ex almirante sin piedad alguna y desde ese día luffy vivió en el dolor y la culpa de haber perdido a toda su familia. El estaba a punto de caer en un abismo del cual sabía del que jamas podría escapar pero en su momento de oscuridad este fue salvado por la emperatriz serpiente boa Hancock, por su hija quién logró sobrevivir con ayuda de Coby y por toda su familia y gracias a esto luffy pudo conseguir el perdón y seguir adelante con su vida hasta el día de su muerte en el cual este pudo descansar en paz al saber de qué podría volver a reunirse con su familia. Pero lo único que no sabía era que él podría tener una segunda oportunidad gracias a la ayuda de un ser desconocido.
