The mandap was glowing softly under strings of marigold and fairy lights, but inside, it felt oddly calm-like the world had quieted down just for them.
Ishani sat with her head slightly lowered, her hands resting in her lap, fingers nervously tracing the edge of her bridal bangles. Her heart thudded louder than the wedding drums.
Ansh glanced sideways, catching the tiny, nervous movement.
Leaning just enough so only she could hear, he whispered, his tone playful but quiet,
"Relax... Sirf ek lifetime contract with guaranteed lifetime warranty. Pressure nahi lene ka"
["Relax... It's just a lifetime contract that has a guaranteed lifetime warranty. So, no pressure."]
She bit back a smile, her cheeks flushing despite the chaos around them.
Without looking at him, she murmured softly under her breath,
"Kam se kam, sign in karne wala bharosemand dikhta hai"
["At least the co-signer looks dependable."]
Ansh let out a small, amused breath-half a chuckle, half a sigh.
In that fleeting second, the noise faded again. The crowd blurred. The rituals continued. But they sat there, two strangers about to become something more, sharing a secret, subtle moment between the vows.
And somehow, neither of them looked away first.
