The strike was over and things in the Bronx had been... taken care of, more or less. So why did Race feel like this was the beginning of another uphill battle? Jack's growing up and making plans to leave and the leadership role he'd occupied for so long was now being thrust onto Race. And now, not only is Race stuck managing in a position he'd never wanted, but the other boys are beginning to think about their futures too. It seems like all of his friends are moving on and ready to leave, but Race isn't ready for that. He just wants things to stay the way they were. But sometimes things have to change and these boys really can't catch a break. Soon Race is dealing with more troublesome outsiders all while adjusting to his new role in the group. "Race, what's goin' on? Where 'ave ya been?" Crutchie asked, eyeing the boy with worry. Race ignored him and continued limping to the stairs. "Race, get back over here. Crutch and I stayed up waitin' for ya, the least you can do is tell us where youse been." "I'm fine," Race mumbled, not stopping. Jack quickly stepped forward and grabbed the younger boy's arm, not missing the way he tensed up. "C'mon Race, look at me. What's wrong?" Race slowly turned around, keeping his eyes down with the brim of his hat casting a shadow across his face. "I just had a run-in with a couple of guys who were lookin' for a fight. I got a little beat up. Really, it's nothin'." "It's not 'nothing' Race. You're walkin' worse than I do!" Crutchie exclaimed. Jack grabbed Race's chin and tipped it up and Crutchie gasped. Jack's eyes widened too as he and Crutchie got a glimpse of their brother's face. Crutchie's face turned red with anger, his hand clenching his crutch tightly. "Who did this to you?" *** It's a month after the strike, and everything is going great... until it's not. It starts with small arguments with newsies from the other boroughs, and only gets worse. None of the boys know whats going on, but they're trying to ignore it, until one day something happens that none of them can ignore. A/N: Sorry about the sucky summary, I'm bad at writing those.

Exactly what the title says! I'm first gonna have the boys react to the musical (It'll be the Newsies Live! version since that is the only version I've seen and it's just easier for me) and then you guys can comment questions for the boys to answer! It had been a few months since the Newsies won their strike against Joseph Pulitzer and things had finally started to go back to normal. For most of the Newsies that was anyways. Two of the Newsies, Specs and Romeo had their own problems that they were dealing with. Both were hopelessly in love with the other and were convinced that the feelings were not mutual. In a time where being gay is illegal, will they give up or will they find joy in an illegal romance?
