Years have passed, the light fades A sacred world bleeds, darker each day The shadows weep for ruined dreams As nightmares choke the land to screams The lost daughter, no longer forsaken A ancient force long forgotten, Awakened --------------------------------------------- When sixteen year old Astra Gray is asked what her plans for the future are, she'll give it to you straight: get good grades, get a scholarship to a good college, and get the hell out of the orphanage. Since she was only a day old, Astra has lived in one of the many over-crowed Los Angeles orphanages, wanting more than anything to experience the normal life that her peers have. But Astra isn't a normal girl. Plagued by strange dreams, horrifying nightmares, and the shadowy figure who always seems to lurk inside them, she often wonders about her sanity. Hearing voices at night and seeing shadows dance isn't normal. After nearly being abducted and witnessing what should be considered a murder, Astra slowly realizes that things aren't always seem. Suddenly thrown into a strange world of wolves, dream worlds, and Nightmare Slayers, Astra must come to terms with the truth of her heritage, find her missing half, and maybe fall in love with the wrong person along the way, all while realizing that in order to defeat the darkness, she must first embrace it.

Just because I'm telling you this story, doesn't mean I'm alive at the end of it. It's that kind of a story, where things just got so out of control... Things happen, and sometimes there's nothing that can be done to stop them. Sometimes, it feels like you've been dealt the bad card. Like you've been cursed. But you have to keep moving and remember that tomorrow is a new day. The curse could be some kind of blessing, and even if it isn't, it probably isn't as bad as it seems. Trust me, I've learned that the hard way. Because every morning as the sun rises, when that Nightingale sings, it can bring hope for a better tomorrow. But even I don't know how this story ends yet. Let's just hope that I'm not alive at the end of it. Because I HAVE been given a curse, and there's no up side to it.

"Lexi..."' he started. "I have to know. Do you want to be with me anymore?" "I-" I cut myself off. I didn't know what to say. I wanted to say "I love you more than my own life! I want that more than anything." Because it's the truth. But I was afraid. I couldn't. He groaned, standing up and pacing up and down the isle. He looked so stressed, so upset. I stood up and placed a hand on his chest, stopping him in his tracks. "Fine. Tell me this." He sighed, looking me in the eyes. "Do you love me?" I didn't have to hesitate for that one. "Of course I do. But-" He grabbed my upper arm, making me stop."That's all that I needed to hear." --------------------------------------------------------------------- It's been over two years since Lexi left me. Two years since I last saw her face, heard her laugh. Now, with my back up against the wall and the Team falling apart, I know that I need her. I know that I need to call in my favor. But can I put aside my feelings for her to save the world? Will I have to? I told her that I loved her, and she said that she loved me too, but then she left. But she promised. Promised that one day we could be together again. I swore to myself that I'd make her mine again. And I'm sure going to try.

Vanessa Edwards is your normal, typical 13 year old girl. Well, besides the fact that she has no parents. And that she was specially selected to attend Gotham Academy, one of the most prestigious schools in America, free of charge. Plus, you know, living with Catwoman and all. Set in Season One. And my first story! I rated it PG-13 because it has some violence and minor language, but I'm just being safe. Robin x OC
