Rated mature for violence and character death, to play it safe. Welcome to the Realms, a world I built from shards of Minecraft and Double Life lore and a lot of imagination for the sole purpose of housing our wonderful Ranchers. You're about to embark on a journey across time, but it will all be worth it when the souls of those bound to each other are finally united. I ask for your patience as we progress through the creation of the Realm, and the days that follow, until we ultimately reach the time when our Ranchers can settle down in a place called home. ~~ Enjoy the ride!

Tango had always seen himself as a weapon. Not in the poetic sense, not metaphorically-no, in his mind he was something built to burn, a walking catastrophe dressed up like a person. Anything beautiful or green that he touched seemed destined to wither, curl inward, burst into flame, and die. It wasn't his fault, not really. He was a blaze hybrid, after all. Fire clung to him the way breath clung to others. His hair burned with living flame, flickering wild and hot unless he was sleeping or truly, deeply calm. Only then did it shift into something gentler: golden locks, soft and shimmering like sunlight instead of wildfire. Even the puffball at the tip of his tail-usually a small comet trailing sparks-could cool into a warm, glowing gold when his mind settled. Most of the time, though, it burned. So he avoided anything green. Plants recoiled from him, leaves crisping if he stepped too close. He stuck to industrial spaces instead: metal catwalks, stone corridors, redstone workshops where nothing living could be harmed by his presence. He carved out his home in places where fire was expected. His eyes were striking in a way that made people flinch before they realized they'd done it. The sclera were a deep burnt red, like embers cooling in a furnace, while the irises were bright and molten-almost too alive, too intense, like staring into a forge mouth. People didn't always know where to look when they talked to him. And so, after enough awkward pauses and nervous glances, Tango started wearing goggles. The tinted lenses hid the fire in his eyes and the freckles scattered across his cheeks-small, dark flecks like soot across pale skin. He didn't mind hiding. It was easier that way. Easier for him. Easier for everyone he might accidentally burn.

Throughout Jimmy's entire life, he had never once sung a true canary's song. Not because he didn't have the voice for it-he did-but because he never felt the need. Or maybe, more truthfully, he'd never been given the chance. Every time he tried, someone would tell him to shut up. If he chirped even a little too loud, a heavy blanket would be thrown over his cage, plunging him into darkness, tricking him into thinking it was night. He'd sit there, silent and still, alone in that manufactured night, wondering what he did wrong. He never stayed in one place for long. From one owner to the next, passed around like an afterthought. A decoration. A novelty. Never a companion. Eventually, the canary stopped trying. He stopped chirping. He stopped dreaming of melodies. His voice, once instinctual, dulled into a forgotten thing. He was yelled at so often that, after a while, he started to believe his name was Shut Up. Shut up, they'd say. You're too loud. You're too noisy. And so, he wasn't. He was quiet. Invisible. A canary who never sang.

It was cold that night. Wind rushed past his ears as he ran, his strides as long as he could possibly make them. A heavy snow was falling, draping the city around him in a layer of beautiful, glistening white. But he had no time to admire it. ---- Welcome to RHVAU, also known as Ranchers Hero/Villain AU! Tango is the only netherborn to ever have left the nether. In the overworld, hybrids live in fear of being discovered, but Tango is no stranger to rejection. This time he deals with his problems, by hiding from them. Building his own little world, tucked within a thick dark oak forest, he isolates himself for nine whole years, with no intention of leaving. That is until two strangers find themselves lost in the maze of a forest, and right at his doorstep. Outside of this forest, hybrids are beginning to realize they are being hunted by their own kind. Dozens of affiliated groups of vex hybrids scour cities for every last hybrid they can find, dragging them away to some unknown location. As they get stuck in the mystery of this betrayal, they must band together, or be destroyed. TW: general violence and mentions of violence Cover art by Hex on youtube I believe. Couldn't find it. Tango's breathing is hard, and he barely registers anything else besides rage and betrayal. Rage. Tango screams when the explosions reach him, his legs buckling and his arms wrapping around his head and stomach as a pitiful shield. Fear. Tango collapses, his wings no longer buzzing, just twitching. He whines and trembles-this time of regret. Apology. Love? {Or 3 times Tango's heart froze, +1 time he was able to warm up.}
