Cold air bite into my lungs, my breathing came in short gasps as my shoes pounded heavily into the drenched soil causing mud to splash up my legs. They're going to catch on me soon. I could hear their heavy footsteps, his heavy breathing. Soon I stopped hearing them, I stopped hearing him. Did I escape? I turn around and my eyes scanned the darkness. Where are they? Where is he? A breath of relief escapes my lips and I turned around while moving forward. I bumped into something hard and instantly I fell back causing arms to wrap around my waist. "Little doll," My heart sinks and my spine stiffens as I looked up and met his dark eyes. "Ghost-" "Mi nuh tell uh a ready say yah fimi and you nah go ever escape me," his gruff tone met my ears. "I'm not yours Ghost," I said in a stern tone, hoping it would go through his dark twisted mind. "The moment I saw you, you became mine, the moment you came on my tongue, Paige, your whole body and mind is mine," he said possessively and cold. I couldn't help the fear that washed over me along with the tears that soaked my underwear. "I hate you," "And soon we'll both watch you fall in love with every deranged and unhinged part of me," he declares. I'm so fucked by life and this psychopath that is now madly obsessed with me. He's a ruthless cold hearted Russian/Jamaican mob boss who mets her in a local supermarket and he's now madly obsessed with her. He stays in the shadows as he washes over her. He's the type that kills if you even breathe wrong in her direction. He's Reign Midnight. She's a mother of one, struggling to make ends meet for her four year old son. She soon finds out that she's been stalked by Reign and his soldiers but that's not the only problem she faces after this. If you value you're sanity put this book down.

Even though I don't look up right away, I feel him. His presence shifts the air, makes it heavier, like the sky right before a storm. A shiver runs down my spine, but I shake it off. I can sense he's here to handle our unfinished business, and I know he won't hold his tongue this time, not without our audience from earlier to keep him in check. "Why yuh really come back Jodie?" He's blunt, as always, and I can tell he's revving up for a fight. Him lucky. "I love Ms. Iva and I respect her for what she does, but dem neva send yuh gah school fi sell yam dung a market...Why'd you leave Kingston?" "I told you already, I'm using my PTO Knox" I dispose of the water into the grass, setting the wash basin up against the tank. He scoffs. "Liad, yuh done tell dah one deh already, betta yuh come up wid a next one." His eyes are daring, challenging me to come clean, but I can't. "Why you cyaa juss believe me? What's so suspicious about me needing time away from work?" I push past him, not yet ready to dive so deep into the unknown. He grabs my wrist, pulling me into his chest and trapping me there. The warmth of him seeps into me, setting off a fire under my skin. He doesn't ease up, but the pressure does something to me that I can't shake. I tell myself to take a step back, create some space, but I don't. I won't. "Because me know yuh, Jodie. Better than I know myself. I know you..." He presses his index fingers to his heart, his breath shallow as it cascades across my collarbone. "I thought we were better than this, I thought we could tell each other anything" I shake my head, my eyes closing as I inhale his scent, it's uniquely him. It's dangerous how familiar it is, how it makes my chest ache. I hate him for making me feel like this, I hate myself for wanting to be even closer than we are now.

In Jamaica, love is never innocent. It is inherited, traded, bought, buried, and sometimes-weaponized. From the zinc-fenced lanes where hunger sharpens ambition, to the hilltop mansions where legacies rot behind marble gates, power moves quietly. Money whispers. Bloodlines decide futures long before hearts get a say. And the people who rise fastest are rarely the ones who play fair. This is a country where uptown smiles are rehearsed, ghetto loyalty is lethal, and desire doesn't ask permission. Where women learn early that softness is a liability, and men confuse ownership with love. Where bodies are currencies, secrets are shields, and survival often looks like sin. At the center of it all is a love story that was never meant to be tender. Only consuming. Only dangerous. Only inevitable. Wicked Love is not about happily-ever-after. It is about what happens when ambition falls in love with hunger... when class collides with obsession... when two people mistake control for devotion and call it destiny. This is a story of wealth built on silence. Of women who refuse to stay small. Of men who learn too late that power does not equal possession. Welcome to the space between ghetto and uptown- where love is wicked, loyalty is costly, and everything beautiful comes with blood on it.

"Child? Mi a big man. Yuh think 25 a pickney?" Again I didn't answer. I focused my attention on the fence and tried to maneuver through the wire. Just my luck, the wires hooked the back of my leggings waist. "See it deh, you get hook. Mi just fi lef you right yasso." ********** This is a cutesy book!! Nothing tumultuous❤️❤️

Family is meant to build you up. Be the safety net you need in this cruel world, but sometimes the poison that started from the ancestors carries throughout generations. For Ebony Keys, being part of such a dynasty forces you to segregate for sanity. Not that you can find much of it anyway, especially when your supervisor is a micromanaging monitoring spirit. A girl just has too much on her left. But then to her right there's him. Kazmir. The man she seems to be bonded to - a connection held by an invisible thread. The Red String. They are destined to meet and profoundly impact each other's lives, finding each other regardless of time, place, or circumstance. This thread may stretch but it never breaks. It remains intact forever. The only downside to forever is... "You were never mine. Not back then and definitely not now." I half expected him to be throwing questions, weh mi mean? or why mi say dat?- but this time it was pin drop silent. His eyes spared me only a quick glance before he had to refocus, his breath remaining steady even with my declaration. "Ebony..." his voice was slightly elevated. "Kazmir?" Mines shook a bit afraid of what his comeback would be. "First is forever."

I lay my head on his chest. The cities lights shine through the room. His large hand draws small circles around my hip. I smile softly feeling a kiss being placed on my head. "You're so beautiful, you know that don't you?" he whispers looking down on me. It's just these little things, things to make me feel that small bit better of course. I hum making him raise an eyebrow, "Yes" that makes him smile back. He places a few small kisses on my lips before leaning back against the headrest. "The real beauty lays within our hearts, it's 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘪𝘥𝘥𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘢𝘶𝘵𝘺, it's our hidden beauty baby."
