Some people are born with everything. What about the people who don't? They'd have to fight for what they want... right? See, growing up in a community where poverty, violence, and loss were just a normal part of life, the future never looked bright. The dreams these two young adults had were too big for people who started with nothing. But they were determined to escape. After one gaze at the river. One flat tire. One hospital room. These two young adults realized they had a spark worth fighting for. While struggling through life... they also wanted to be loved. Loved properly. Love doesn't come easy - and neither does becoming rich. Will they fight through it all... or let the same thing that brought them together tear them apart?

"Move from in front a mi," I say. But it comes out softer. Weaker. More honest than I intended. I'd be on the first plane out of here tomorrow. Nothing that we've said in the past twenty minutes would matter once I am on that plane. We are tied to each other, and our pasts don't have to intertwine any more than they already have. He doesn't move. I step sideways. He mirrors me, like he's tethered to the same gravity. "Kymani-" "Selah" My name in his mouth feels like a dare. A part of me wants it to feel like a promise. I shake the thought. After what feels like a standoff written in the marrow between us, he finally exhales and steps back. Barely. But enough. I don't waste it. I slip from his hold, my heartbeat pounding in my throat, in my ears, in the soles of my feet as I bolt toward the door. I leave him there. Leave the house. Leave the heat still burning between us. And I run. Fast, desperate, the same way I did the first time I left this place. The same way I survived. I don't look back. Not at him. Not at the house. Not at the version of myself that's still trembling inside those walls. Not anymore.

From Disdain to Desire continues where Book 1 ends, in the aftermath of a night that shatters everything Shemar Dixon and Brianna Francis were building. The line between disdain and desire grows thinner, and the cost of misunderstanding becomes heartbreakingly real. Convinced he's been betrayed, Shemar walks away in anger and pain, leaving Brianna confused, broken, and haunted by words she never consciously spoke. As unresolved trauma resurfaces and dreams blur with memories, the truth becomes harder to untangle from misunderstanding. With love strained by silence, hurt, and pride, both must face what lies beneath their connection or risk losing each other forever. When desire is clouded by pain, will love still be enough?

Part 2 of "The Jamaican Underboss". The saga continues... In this second book, hidden truths unravel, old wounds meet their cure, and love finds its flame once more. What was left broken begins to mend, and the shadows that once lingered now reveal their secrets. Conflicts find their resolution, passions are rekindled, and every unanswered question is finally given its voice. Yet...just as peace begins to bloom, a ripple of trouble stirs- reminding them that every love must be tested. And quickly, beneath it all, a truth emerges- one never spoken before: they were not merely chance, but meant to be. This is not just a continuation- it is the awakening, the part where the storm clears, though the winds have not completely died.
