Ever since the days of Aegon's conquest, when House Targaryen brought the power of Dragons to the Seven Kingdoms and made them bow, there has been a clear divide between what is known as "the South", and what is known as "The North". The Southerners, as the Northerners called them, followed the Faith of the Seven, whereas the Northerners followed the Old Gods, a far more ancient religion. And it wasn't just religion that divided the two halves of the continent, for there were many other differences.
The Southerners were descended from the Andals, with the exception of House Targaryen and the Dornish, whereas the Northerners were descended from the First Men, who were the original settlers of the realm, crossing the arm of Dorne long before the Andals even had the idea too.
To put it simply, the North and the South were very different, and it was because of those differences, that the North always seemed more independent than the rest of the Realm. The North may have bent the knee to the Dragons, and accepted their new positions as Lords Paramount instead of Kings, yet that didn't mean the infamous animosity between North and South, evaporated overnight. The Starks, who had once ruled the North as Kings of Winter for thousands of years, continued to heavily distrust the South, even if they were a part of the same realm, under the Dragon Banner of House Targaryen...
However, in an attempt to bring the North closer to the Seven Kingdoms and heal any sort of rift, King Daeron "The Good", organised a match. A match between Lord Barthogen Stark's niece, Lady Lyarra Stark, and his own son...
Prince Baelor Targaryen...
After being wed in both the tradition of House Stark and the Faith of the Seven, Prince Baelor and Lady Lyarra produced one child together. A son. A Prince, born of Ice and Fire, who they named...Aenar.
Prince Aenar Targaryen, the Frost Born Flame...
