Title: "When the Heart Misses a Beat" Shubman Gill hated Ishan Kishan. Or so he told himself. He hated how Ishan smiled too brightly, giggled too sweetly, how his laugh could echo in the entire practice ground like some kind of infectious happiness. He hated how Ishan wore his heart on his sleeve, how he was loud and lively and everything Shubman couldn't be. But most of all... he hated how his chest twisted weirdly whenever Ishan looked at him with those sparkly eyes and called him "Gill bhai." It wasn't hate. But Shubman didn't know that. One afternoon during a particularly intense practice, Shubman was frustrated-angry at the world, at himself, at how Ishan's laughter had followed him all day like an annoying ringtone he couldn't silence. As the bowler came in, Shubman swung his bat with too much force, too much fury-CRACK! The ball soared off his bat-not towards the boundary, but toward the dugout. Where Ishan was standing. He didn't even have time to react. It hit him square in the head. Blood. Screams. The sound of people running. Shubman's heart stopped.

Shubman watched him disappear into the rain, anger still boiling in his chest. He didn't know those would be the last words he'd say to him. Not for two days. ---
