It had been five years since Catherine Pinkerton has become the Queen of Hearts. Her heart, still gone, could not feel. But she could act, and act she did for the new one that had come into her life less than those five long years ago.

After the attack at the theatre, in a reality where Jest was not accused of kidnapping Lady Pinkerton after returning from the treacle well, still as the court joker, Catherine is invited to a royal feast with most of Hearts nobility. Cath still has trouble trying to convince everyone about the future proposal from the King, and that she refuses to accept. But, is it possible her parents will realize that this is not her path, that she refuses to let this become her fate?
