Two people who once shared an unspoken school-time crush now stand at the edge of a very different story. Back then, they never confessed-too young, too unsure, too afraid of losing the little they had. But time has a strange way of deepening what was never voiced. That quiet affection has now evolved into something stronger, something powerful enough to shake their worlds: true love. Yet destiny hasn't been kind. Their lives have taken completely different turns-shaped by choices, responsibilities, and wounds neither of them expected. Even after all these years, their paths refused to meet. And when fate finally brought them to the same point, it wasn't as partners... but as two individuals walking alone. Driven by pain and a need for justice, they both carry battles of their own. Battles that demand sacrifices. Battles where revenge feels necessary, even if love becomes collateral damage. To win their wars, they risk losing each other forever. Because they are both fire-intense, stubborn, unstoppable. And everyone knows what happens when fire collides with fire. It doesn't create light. It doesn't create warmth. It only destroys everything caught between the flames.

Everyone thought my marriage was flawless. A powerful husband. Wealth. Privacy. Control. What they didn't know was that loyalty was the one thing he couldn't buy. I discovered his affair the night I realized love had made me obedient, not safe. He called it a mistake. I called it betrayal. Now I'm done being the faithful wife in a story written by a cheating man. This is not a forgiveness story. This is what happens after loyalty breaks.

They say betrayal never comes from your enemies. I used to think that was just something people said to feel better about their broken hearts. Until mine shattered too. The night it happened, everything changed. I lost my best friend. I lost my boyfriend. But worst of all... I lost myself. It's funny how a single moment can split your life into before and after. Before, I was the girl who believed in love, in loyalty, in forever. After, I was the girl standing in the ruins of what used to be her world, gasping for air, screaming into the silence, wondering why. Why me? Why now? Why them? So, I ran. Packed what was left of me and left the pieces behind-what else could I do? I moved cities. Moved in with my cousin. I told myself I needed a break, a fresh start. I told myself I wasn't looking for anyone. I was here to rebuild, quietly, carefully. Just me and the pain that still lived under my skin. But then... I saw him. At the club. Dark suit. Brooding eyes. Hands in his pockets like the world bowed at his feet. He didn't just walk in; he owned the room. The kind of man who didn't need to speak to be heard. I didn't know his name. I didn't know his story. But I felt his eyes on me like a touch that burned. He was power. He was danger. He was everything I told myself to avoid. But as fate would have it, the man who never chased anyone... noticed the broken girl who stopped believing in love. And maybe-just maybe-he'd be the one to help me believe again. This is the story of how I broke... And how he found every shattered piece.

I never believed in marriage. Not after growing up watching it tear my family apart. Wanting someone was easy. Loving someone was dangerous. But promising forever? That felt impossible. And then came Dean Ashford. He never asked for much; just me, just us, just a future he swore he'd protect with everything he had. And when he asked for that future-when he held out a ring with hands that were shaking-I did the one thing I never wanted to do. I walked away. He broke. I broke. And the next morning, when I finally found the courage to choose him-really choose him-I had no idea he'd spent the night destroying everything we ever were. I had no idea what I was walking into. I had no idea what he'd done. I thought the worst thing I'd ever feel was the fear of losing him. I was wrong. Because nothing prepares you for the moment the person you love looks at you with eyes full of secrets... Nothing prepares you for the truth that the one night you walked away was the one night he didn't. And now I have to decide if the love I built my world around can survive the one mistake that broke both of us.

"You created that absurd tale in a blink of an eye?" Zane asked, one brow arched in amused disbelief. She huffed. "You should be grateful, I think quickly." "Oh, I am," he murmured. "But perhaps next time, a backstory wherein I retain a modicum of dignity?" Aurora smirked. "And rob myself of the entertainment? Where's the fun in that?" Zane shook his head, but his fingers lingered a fraction longer before he released her hand. "I hadn't realised amusement ranked so highly among your values." She narrowed her eyes. "You are growing rather bold, considering I just saved your life." Zane, entirely undeterred, tilted his head with an infuriating smile. "Ah, but my dearest", he murmured, stepping closer, "perhaps you saved me because you cannot bear to be without me." She responded with all the grace and dignity of a woman at her wit's end-by clamping a hand over his face and shoving him away with such force that he staggered back, laughter spilling from his lips. "Gah! You are intolerable!" Aurora exhaled sharply, straightening her sleeves as though the mere act of touching him had somehow wrinkled them. *************************** Bound by duty. Shackled by honour. Tormented by feeling. Aurora lives a life shaped by steel and sacrifice. As a knight sworn to her realm, she's loyal, lethal, and alone-unshaken in battle, but increasingly undone in his presence. Zane is a problem: disciplined yet reckless, distant yet always too close. He never asks, never reveals-yet somehow sees straight through her. When a mission draws them deep into peril, forced side by side, what once was teasing sharpens into tension. In stolen glances and moonlit silence, desire simmers beneath duty, and silence becomes the loudest agony of all. As truths unravel and enemies close in, the real question isn't whether they can trust each other... It's whether they can afford not to. Written: March 2025- Feb 2026
