When Emi's husband forgets his phone one morning, it only takes a few messages for everything to fall apart. She returns the phone in the middle of a board meeting and walks away from the life that she thought was happy and secure. But after the fallout comes reality. The money isn't there. The stability wasn't real. And starting over with two kids in her mother's one-bedroom apartment is a lot harder than leaving was. As Emi rebuilds from nothing, turning a quiet passion for ikebana into something more, she begins to understand that just like the flowers, she needs space, support, and patience to come into her own. Her husband thinks she'll come back because there's no way she can do it all alone. But, he's wrong, about more than one thing.

Havenwood #2 What should your fiance do when you called him because you crashed his favourite car? Ask how are you, if you're hurt, if you called 911 and more concerned filled words. What did he say though? He exploded, frustratedly, without asking me if I was severely hurt. I wasn't then, but I got hurt by the man my car bumped with, who beat me up thoroughly bad, I fainted right after. I always knew he loved his cars more than anything, but his words wounded me more than the man who attacked me. And with one horrifying incident I could see things clearly now. Maybe I had mistaken value all along, thinking I mattered more than his cars.

They call my husband the embodiment of cruelty. Demetri Ferraro was forged for control, vengeance, and bloodshed without conscience. Strangers murmur cautions about what he might do, forgetting I sleep inches from him nightly. If only they could witness what I have. There's a terrifying authenticity to our marriage. With me, he's attentive to the point of reverence. I wear his fingerprints like brands. His vigilance wraps around me, reflexive as breathing. I trusted him completely because betrayal seemed impossible. That was my undoing The merger of our families cost me things I didn't know I was losing. I salvaged only the skating rink-solitary hours on pristine ice before dawn or after midnight. The architecture of my future was more elaborate than I comprehended. The truth doesn't announce itself with confession. It arrives without remorse, manifesting as inevitability, as though questioning his constructed reality was never an option. I don't doubt that my husband loves me. For the true terror of Demetri Ferraro isn't found in shadows or violence. It's in how he determined I belonged to him, by systematically eliminating any alternative path.

They were supposed to take on the world together. Bailey Brooks and Luke Carter grew up with the same dream , guitars in their hands, music in their bones, and a future that always included each other. Small-town kids with big voices and nowhere else to go, they left everything behind for Nashville believing love and music would carry them through whatever came next. But dreams don't always grow at the same pace. And sometimes the person who believes in you the most is also the one you push away. Years later, success has come at a cost neither of them expected. The life they once imagined together has splintered into silence, distance, and choices that can't be undone. When Bailey disappears from the spotlight without explanation, the world fills the quiet with rumors. Luke knows better than anyone that the truth is far more complicated. And far more painful. Because some songs never really end. They just wait for the moment when you're brave enough to sing them again. The Song We Lost is an emotionally driven second-chance love story about ambition, pride, grief, and the people who remain part of your story long after the music stops. Content Note This story explores emotionally heavy themes including: • grief and loss of a loved one • substance use and drug abuse • complicated relationships and marriage struggles • emotionally difficult life events Reader discretion is advised. For readers who prefer to review a more detailed list of content considerations, a fuller spoiler-aware guide will eventually be available on my website, once the book is complete.

𝐈𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭. Emerald Sawyer has always been my home. She saw something in me when everyone else saw a hockey goon who could barely read. When the world called me stupid, she called me capable. Her faith built me in ways my father's cruelty never could. Now I'm Hayden "Haymaker" Sawyer-the league's most feared enforcer. My violence goes viral. My fists pay the bills. Every hit, every fight, every autograph, every deal-I told myself I was doing it all for her. Somewhere along the way, I stopped seeing what it was costing our marriage. I let my agent handle the business so I could focus on the game. I ignored the threats and harassment. The fans who hated her simply for being mine. When Emerald tried to show me how cruel it had gotten, I told her it didn't matter. That I would always keep her safe. I was wrong. The losses piled up. The fans turned vicious. My temper snapped, and with one ugly moment, I pushed away the only person who has ever truly loved me. Then, while I was smiling for the cameras, my wife was brutally attacked by a fan wearing my jersey. Now I see everything too late. I want blood from every single person who touched her. And the deeper I dig, the clearer it becomes that none of this was random. My agent, Rick Fox, has been pulling the strings for far too long. I'll do whatever it takes to bring down the people who came for my wife, earn back the woman I love, and prove that this time, I won't fail her again. Because Emerald Sawyer is my home, my heart, my everything.
