Travels into Several Remote Nations of the World. In Four Parts. By Lemuel Gulliver, First a Surgeon, and then a Captain of Several Ships, better known simply as Gulliver's Travels (1726, amended 1735), is a novel by Anglo-Irish writer and clergyman Jonathan Swift, that is both a satire on human nature and a parody of the "travellers' tales" literary sub-genre.

The story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, morality, education, and marriage in the society of the landed gentry of early 19th-century England. Elizabeth is the second of five daughters of a country gentleman living near the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, near London.

Haunted by a childhood incident, Emerald Bennett is unable to form intimate bonds with anyone. Tyler Carraway, a warm and gentle man managed to break through her walls and married her. He would never hurt her and would never do anything she would be uncomfortable with. He made her a promise and he intends to keep it. However, when a mysterious man appears, their relationship is strained and only time can tell if Emerald will shatter and bring down her husband with her or will she be able to let go and move on.
