I was the 6th-grade "slut." And I kept a diary. So I decided to create The UnSlut Project in the hopes that my own diary entries could provide some perspective to girls who currently feel trapped and ashamed. I am publishing these entries one at a time, without changing a single word except for the names of the people involved. My limited commentary, which is confined to brackets in each entry, is meant to provide the relief of my current perspective, fifteen years later. The UnSlut Project: Working to undo the dangerous slut shaming in our schools, communities, media, and culture by sharing knowledge and experiences.

Emerson knows high school can be messy, but nothing could prepare her for Oliver Remmer's return. Dangerous, mysterious, and rumored to be a psychopath, he's the kind of boy everyone fears... and everyone watches. Yet Emerson isn't everyone. She sees the layers beneath his intense exterior-the boy shaped by a troubled past, moments of tenderness hidden under bursts of anger, and a vulnerability most people would never notice. Between the gossip, the chaos, and the adrenaline-charged tension, Emerson can't help but be drawn in. Oliver is unpredictable, and being near him is thrilling-and maybe a little bit reckless. Standing her ground almost feels like a dare. But some loves are worth the risk. Some loves are easy. Back Cover Copy: "Write down one word that describes you." Oliver didn't hesitate. Psychopath. Everyone expects me to run. To stay away. To be careful. But I didn't. Because there's something behind the intensity, the walls, the mystery. Something only I get to see. Because sometimes the thrill of the unknown is exactly what your heart has been waiting for. Set in North Carolina, Open is a teen romance about taking risks, discovering who someone really is, and finding that love can feel mysterious, dangerous... and irresistible. C O V E R B Y @ZiaDavis

"A lot of people are scared of you, Austin Grey." Rosalie spoke softly, still looking thoughtfully up at the sky. "And it's like you want them to be." Her eyes remained fixed on the clouds as she spoke, observing them in a way only she could. "What about you?" I asked her after a short silence. "Are you scared of me?" My eyes followed a white line in the sky that a plane must have left behind, as I waited for her answer. She took seconds, minutes to respond. "Right now," it sounded hesitantly, "Right now, I don't think so." I couldn't help but smile, as I moved my eyes away from the sky, to look at her. There she was, innocent and angel-like, lying on the fresh green grass, flowers surrounding her petite body. They reminded me of her, the flowers. Everyone loves flowers, they're beautiful and sweet. But, flowers are fragile, and you have to treat them with care. Just like Rosalie. She was like a blooming rose. - - - - - - - - - - - - Austin Grey is a guy without emotions, or at least that's how he wants others to see him. Brought up by his rather aggressive father, in a world full of drugs, alcohol and fighting, he has learned to care about nobody, to cut off his emotions and to be merciless. But, unlike his father, he doesn't get joy out of killing people. When his father dies, he sees his chance to escape the life full of fighting and runs away. With some money stolen from his father he buys himself a little flat, in a town far away from where he grew up. Other than most 20-year old guys, girls are the last thing Austin cares about. But, that will change when he meets a certain girl named Rosalie, who makes him feel emotions he's never felt before. - - - - - - - - - - - -
