"Wherever there is light, there is also darkness." At first glance, this may seem like a simple statement about nature, but it carries a much deeper meaning about life itself. Light and darkness are not enemies; they exist together, each giving meaning to the other. Without darkness, we would never recognize the value of light, and without hardships, we would never truly appreciate moments of happiness. This balance is a fundamental part of human existence.
After leaving the White Room, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka, a quiet and seemingly ordinary high school student, decided to enroll in one of Japan's most prestigious institutions-the Advanced Nurturing High School. To him, it was nothing more than a normal school where he could finally live the peaceful life he had always wished for. No endless experiments, no manipulation, no constant pressure to prove his worth. For the first time, he believed he could blend into the crowd, make a few friends, and spend his teenage years like any other student.
But life rarely grants such simple wishes.
There is an old saying: wherever there is light, there is also darkness. While the school appeared to be a paradise filled with freedom, opportunity, and brilliant students, beneath its perfect image lay a ruthless system built on competition, deception, and survival. Every smile could hide an agenda, every friendship could become a weapon, and every victory demanded a sacrifice.
Kiyotaka had stepped into the very place he believed would free him from his past. Instead, he found himself standing in another battlefield-one where intelligence mattered more than strength, trust was fragile, and even the smallest mistake could change a person's future forever.
The light he had been searching for was real, but so was the darkness waiting behind it.
